Norfolk – Hire tent and Glamp!

May 21, 2015

Now we don’t like to think that tenting or dare we say, glamping is the only way to holiday in Norfolk, but having been born and bred in this outstanding county (yes, we’re a little biased) and also having dared ourselves to venture away from the humble polyester tent, to the delights of cotton canvas, we are more than convinced that this is a pretty wonderful way to see and soak up Norfolk.

There is no denying that the glamping days are upon us and with this in mind, we thought we would introduce some of you to our favourite corners of this fabulous county, so you too, can hire a bell tent and get out there and glamp!

The beauty of Norfolk Bells is that you can arrive at any campsite in this glorious landscape and begin making camping memories. The tent will be pitched, ready and waiting for you and all you have to do is arrive, unpack and start enjoying the vast open skies of which Norfolk is so famous for.  We love camping all over the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on the North Norfolk Coast as well as some of the quaint and as yet, fairly un ‘glamped’ corners of the Broads National Park. Both offer very different yet equally stunning countryside with peace, relaxation and a chance to get away from it all. The delights of a bell tent enable you to do all this, without having to give up comforts of home – No sleeping bags, lumpy ground or sweaty sleeping conditions.

Here at Norfolk Bells we’re keen on the ‘Wild Glamping’ side of things, where you get some fabulous chances to enjoy a taste of glamour right on the doorstep of some fabulous nature. Three of our personal favourites let you experience some of the most breathtaking scenery we have to offer with a chance to stay very up close and personal with some unique, stunning and environmentally protected areas.

So without further ado, let us introduce you to High Sand Creek Campsite in Stiffkey, fronted by National Trust managed Salt Marshes along the North Norfolk Coastal footpath it’s great for paddling and crabbing in nearby Wells-next-the-sea, as well as great eats at the Siffkey Red Lion. Not far from here and equally well positioned for the North Norfolk Coast and it’s AONB is Rectory Hill Campsite in Cley. A gorgeous and peaceful site, nestled in farmland with two great pubs within strolling distance; the fabulous Wiveton Bell and the convenient Three Swallows. Finally for a taste of the Broads we’re fans of Salhouse Broad, although a little low on the glamourous facilities front, mother nature more than makes up for it and it’s great for the kids with loads of opportunities for canoeing, cycling, boat hire from Wroxham Boat Hire and walking. The wonderful Woodfordes Brewery at Woodbastwick (tours available) and their lovely pub, The Fur and Feathers are all within a pretty stroll too.

Now we have offered ideas of where to go, perhaps we should be a little clearer on what to create your fairytale canvas home from home. Firstly of course, the difference between glamping and camping is the tent. Our bell tents can be hired at 4 or 5 metres, offering peaked, circular, cosy and romantic canvas boltholes; these can be decorated idylls with rugs, cushions, comfy inflatable beds, snuggly bedding, bunting, fairy lights and any other creature comforts you care to add into the mix. Most campsites allow firepits these days too .These are a fabulous multi purpose tool, offering warmth on a cold evening and a perfect cooking utensil for hot pots, bbq’s and baked beans – you can hire one from us at Norfolk Bells, if you fancy.

So let us relieve you of all the normal worry and organising of a camping trip and simply tell us where you would like to pitch up for your glamping holiday. All you have to do is arrive, all the hard work has been done for you, so just enjoy your holiday in the Norfolk sunshine.

All that is to be done now is try it! So give us a call on 07587 777080 or email us hi@norfolkbells.co.uk and book your bell tent, glamped or not – We’re sure that you will fall in love with this new way to camp and never look back. x
